Press Release – International PGA TOUR Champions players Montgomerie, Parnevik, and Lyle commit to Sanford International
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – PGA TOUR Champions golfers Colin Montgomerie, Jesper Parnevik, and Sandy Lyle , have officially committed to playing in the inaugural Sanford International Presented by Cambria.
As a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Montgomerie brings quite the resume to the Sanford International. Montgomerie, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, has won over 90 tournaments worldwide, including being a 2-time Senior PGA Championship winner. He was a member of 9 Ryder Cup teams, including being the captain of the 2010 team. Montgomerie received Member of the British Empire (MBE) from H.M. the Queen in 1998 and Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2005 from Prince Charles.
Parnevik is a Stockholm, Sweden native, 5-time PGA Tour champion, winner of the 2016 Insperity Invitational, and member of the 1997, 1999 and 2002 Ryder Cup. For some time, Parnevik wore his bill of cap turned up to get a tan on his face while playing and is also known for distinct golf attire, outfitted by Cobra Puma Golf. Parnevik has his own reality TV show, “Parneviks” which is filmed in Florida and airs in Sweden.
Winner of the 1985 The Open Championship, 1988 Masters and 5-time Ryder Cup member, Lyle is officially committed to the Sanford International. Awarded Member of British Empire after becoming first British winner of the Masters and put haggis, a Scottish dish on the menu at Champions Dinner the following year. Sandy Lyle is also known for being the Sunday playing partner of Jack Nicklaus when Nicklaus won his 18th and final Major. Sandy was taught the game by his late father, Alex, the long-time professional at Hawkstone Park in England.
